What is #SpaceXStarlink3?
Early 2026 SpaceX announced the third generation of its flagship broadband constellation – #SpaceXStarlink3. The original Starlink (Phase 1) provided basic broadband to underserved regions. Starlink 2 (2023‑2025) added higher‑throughput Ka‑band satellites. Starlink 3 goes further by offering ultra‑low latency, AI‑enhanced network management, and a modular satellite bus that can be upgraded in orbit.
The promise is simple: global, high‑speed internet that works the same in a Reykjavik café as in a remote Kenyan village. To deliver this, SpaceX launched more than 4 800 new Low‑Earth‑Orbit (LEO) satellites. Each satellite weighs about 210 kg and occupies one of six orbital shells between 340 km and 560 km. The higher satellite density reduces the average hop distance, giving sub‑20 ms round‑trip latency – a level once limited to fiber optics.
Key Technical Upgrades
1. Phased‑Array Antenna 2.0
The new flat‑panel phased‑array antenna, called Starlink‑A2, steers its beam electronically across a 120‑degree field‑of‑view in milliseconds. This removes the mechanical gimbals used by older user terminals. The change improves reliability in harsh weather and enables seamless hand‑off between satellites.
